Before You BeginRefer to the sections for system and farm requirements that must be in place prior to installing andusing DocAve Connector.ConfigurationIn order to use DocAve Connector, the DocAve 6 platform must be installed and configured properly onyour farm. Connector will not function without DocAve 6 present on the farm. For installationinstructions, see the DocAve 6 Installation Guide.AgentsDocAve Agents are responsible for running DocAve jobs and interacting with the SharePoint objectmodel. DocAve Agents enable DocAve Manager to communicate with the respective servers, allowingfor Connector commands to function properly.*Note: The use of system resources on a server increases when the installed Agent is performingactions. This may affect server performance. However, if the Agent installed on a server is not beingused, the use of system resources is very low and, therefore, the effect on server performance isnegligible.For instructions on installing the DocAve Platform, DocAve Manager, and DocAve Agents, see theDocAve 6 Installation Guide.Required PermissionsReview the following sections for details on required Agent Account, File Share, and Local Systempermissions.Agent Account PermissionsTo install and use Connector properly, ensure that the Agent account has the following permissions:1. Local System Permissions: These permissions are automatically configured by DocAve duringinstallation. Refer to Local System Permissions for a list of the permissions automaticallyconfigured upon installation.2. SharePoint Permissions: These permissions must be manually configured prior to usingDocAve 6 Connector; they are not automatically configured.8DocAve 6: Connector
a. User is a member of the Farm Administrators group. Since Administrator works acrossfarms and on all SharePoint settings and configurations, this account is needed in orderto provide the best and most complete quality of service.b. Full Control to all zones of all Web applications via User Policy for Web Applications.3. SQL Permissions: These permissions must be manually configured prior to using DocAve 6Connector; they are not automatically configured.• Member has the database role of db_owner for all the databases related to SharePoint,including Content Databases, Config Database, and Central Admin Database.• Member has the database role of db_owner for all the DocAve stub databases.• Member has the server role of dbcreator to SQL Server since it must create a stubdatabase before performing any Connector job.File Share PermissionsEnsure that the user account used by the Connector library to access the file share has the followingminimum required permissions:NTFS Permission Needed? Reason NeededFull ControlNoTraverse Folder/Execute File Yes Connector traverses the folder in order to access thedata within subdirectories. It also needs to be able toopen the file directly from the folder.List Directory/Read Data Yes Connector must list all contents within the folder inorder to display them within SharePoint. It alsoneeds to read the data in order to provide thebinaries via SharePoint.Read Attributes Yes SharePoint has a promotion and demotion featurethat reads Office file attributes and then uses themas column data.Read Extended Attributes Yes Office files have extended attributes as well ascustom attributes that are used in SharePointpromotion and demotion processes.Create Files/Write Data Yes This permission is needed to create files within thefile share when they are created within SharePoint.Create Directories/AppendDataYesThis permission is required to create folders withinthe file share when they are created in SharePoint.Connector creates hidden folders within the fileshare in order to store version history and preventother libraries from connecting to the same fileshare.Write Attributes Yes When SharePoint demotes column information intoOffice files, the file attributes need to be written to.DocAve 6: Connector9
