Absent your consent, no “tag” is added to the AnonymousViewing Information transmitted from your TiVo DVR to TiVo thatwould enable TiVo to identify the TiVo DVR from which it came.If you expressly choose to allow TiVo to collect your PersonallyIdentifiable Viewing Information, TiVo may use this information forsurveys, audience measurement, and other legitimate businesspurposes. NOTE: If your TiVo DVR is receiving the TiVo Basicservice, you may not be able to allow TiVo to collect your PersonallyIdentifiable Viewing Information from that TiVo DVR.2.3 Anonymous Viewing Information. We use AnonymousViewing Information to develop reports and analyses about whatprograms, advertisements, and types of programming our users (as awhole or in subgroups) watch or skip, for other programming oradvertising research, and for any other legitimate business purpose.For example, we use Anonymous Viewing Information to developinferences that people who watch show X also watch show Y. Wealso use Anonymous Viewing Information to help with theinvestigation of technical issues with our systems.2.4 Diagnostic Information. TiVo collects Diagnostic Informationlogs from a small number of randomly sampled TiVo DVRs forquality control and technical troubleshooting purposes.2.5 Commerce Information. TiVo uses Commerce Information asdescribed in Section 1.5.2.6 Feature Generated Requests Information. TiVo uses FeatureGenerated Request Information for the purposes described in Section1.6.2.7 Activating the TiVo Plus Service. When you activate a TiVoDVR that was receiving TiVo Basic service to receive the TiVo Plusservice, and it is the only TiVo DVR on your account receiving theTiVo Plus service, your TiVo DVR will provide AnonymousViewing Information and Diagnostic Information to TiVo. You mayopt in to the collection of Personally Identifiable ViewingInformation or opt out of TiVo’s collection of Anonymous ViewingInformation and Diagnostic Information pursuant to the terms andconditions of this Privacy Policy.2.8 Reverting to the TiVo Basic Service. If you decide to terminateyour TiVo Plus service, and your TiVo DVR is eligible to receive theTiVo Basic service, that TiVo DVR will retain the opt status that ithad when the TiVo Plus service is terminated. NOTE: Your TiVoDVR may not be eligible to receive the TiVo Basic service. Consultyour User’s Guide to determine if your TiVo DVR is eligible toreceive the TiVo Basic service.2.9 TiVo Customers with Multiple TiVo DVRs. TiVo will cause allof the TiVo DVRs on your account to have the same “opt” status.This means that if you opt out of our collection of AnonymousViewing Information and Diagnostic Information from one TiVoDVR, we will not collect Anonymous Viewing Information andDiagnostic Information from any of the TiVo DVRs. If you requestthat TiVo collect your Personally Identifiable Viewing Informationfrom one TiVo DVR, TiVo will collect Personally IdentifiableViewing Information from all of the TiVo DVRs on your account.3 Disclosure of User Information3.1 Generally. We disclose aggregated Account Information andaggregated Anonymous Viewing Information and any reports oranalyses derived therefrom, to third parties including advertisers,broadcasters, consumer and market research companies and otherorganizations.
