DEA’s intention to develop a more consolidated MPAnetwork is reflected by the targets set for inshore and <strong>of</strong>fshore MPAs in the NPAES.3.2.8 Conclusion<strong>South</strong> <strong>Africa</strong>’s legislative framework and policies clearly support the international impetus toestablish MPAs and enable effective management. There are remaining deficiencies,identified through previous assessments which impact on the implementation <strong>of</strong> thelegislation and policies and ultimately the achievement <strong>of</strong> effective management.
