General maintenance should include,but is not limited to the following: replacing filters andhumidifier cylinders, tightening electrical connections,checking the condensate line to ensure it is free ofdebris, cleaning the interior of the unit, inspecting theunits’ components visually, checking the blower assembly,checking level of refrigerant and ensuring nomoisture is in the refrigerant.Use copies of the Periodic General <strong>Maintenance</strong>Checklist in this manual (see Appendix A) to recordperiodic general maintenance inspections. For assistance,contact the SATS Product Support Group.Ensure adherence to all safety statements whileperforming any type of maintenance.WARNINGThis equipment should be serviced and repairedby a journeyman or a qualifi ed refrigerationtechnician only.WARNINGThis unit employs high voltage equipment withrotating components. Exercise extreme care toavoid accidents and ensure proper operation.Hazardous voltage will still be present inside theelectric box at the motor start protectors and circuitbreakers, even with the unit turned off at the microprocessorcontroller. To isolate the unit for maintenance,turn off power at the main power disconnectswitch. Always disconnect main power prior toperforming any service or repairs.WARNINGTurn off power to the unit unless you are performingtests that require power. With powerand controls energized, the unit could beginoperating automatically at any time. To preventpersonal injury, stay clear of rotating componentsas automatic controls may start themunexpectedly.WARNINGPhosgene, a deadly, poisonous gas, isg e nerated when refrigerant is exposed toflame. Always ensure adequate ventilationduring refrigeration repairs.WARNINGAlways recover all refrigerant prior to anys y stem repairs, failure to do so may result insystem over pressurization and rupture.4.1.1 Precision A/C Unit4.1.1.1 FilterThe filter is usually the most neglected item in an airconditioning system. To maintain effi cient operation,the fi lter should be checked at least monthly and replacedas required. Refer to Section 4.3.4.5 for fi lterreplacement instructions.NOTEConditions of spaces vary and fi lters should bechecked based on those conditions.4.1.1.2 BlowerPeriodic checks of the blower system should includechecking the wiring, blower motor mounts, housing,V-belts (if applicable) and blower wheel. Ensure allelectrical connections are tight. Check that all mountsare secure and the blower wheel is tightly mountedon the shaft and does not rub against the fan housing.Inspect the blower vanes to ensure they are freeof debris.For belt drive blowers ensure the pulleys are aligned,the V-belt tension is correct and the belt is not wornout. To adjust the blower belt tension refer to Figure14. Loosen the locking bolt on the side of the motorbase. Turn the jam nut away from the lockdown plate.Rotate the tension rod to move the motor on its’ baseto increase or decrease belt tension. Retighten thejam nut and tighten the locking bolt on the motorbase.Blower motors that require periodic lubrication areequipped with grease fi ttings. Blower motors withoutgrease fittings have permanently lubricated bearingsand should not require maintenance for the normallifetime of the equipment.4-1(©April, 2008)Air Technology Systems, Inc.

This ability can be lost overtime. The following steps should be followed for bestresults:1. A high grade ball or roller bearing grease shouldbe used. Several recommended greases for standardservice conditions are Polyrex EM (pregreasedby factory), Texaco Polystar, Amoco Rykon Premium#2, Pennzoil Pen 32 Lube or Chevron SRI.2. Lubrication should be performed at the recommendedintervals shown in the table below.
