<strong>Minutes</strong> <strong>of</strong> the seventy third <strong>meeting</strong> <strong>of</strong> the State Level Expert Appraisal Committee, WestBengal held on 30.11.2012 at 11:00 hrs. at the Conference Room, Paribesh Bhawan, Salt Lake.___________________________________________________________________After carefully considering the presentation in the 68 th <strong>SEAC</strong> <strong>meeting</strong> held on 14.06.2012, the StateLevel Expert Appraisal Committee (<strong>SEAC</strong>) made the following recommendations. Subsequentresponse dated 10.07.2012 from the unit is given below :­Recommendations / Directions <strong>of</strong> theCommittee dated 29.06.20121. Revised area statement should be submitted,the exclusive tree plantation area should beclearly mentioned, the total paved areashould not exceed 25% <strong>of</strong> the land area.2. The list <strong>of</strong> trees proposed to be plantedshould be modified as discussed during thepresentation.3. Concurrence letter for infrastructural supportservices like water supply, solid wastemanagement should be submitted. Source <strong>of</strong>water <strong>of</strong> JUSCO to be submitted.4. The number <strong>of</strong> solar lights proposed forstreet lighting should be mentioned.5. Permission for tree cutting obtained fromcompetent authority should be submitted.6. Details <strong>of</strong> quantity <strong>of</strong> Hazardous andRadioactive wastes to be generated fromlaboratory and their disposal plan to beoutlined.Response <strong>of</strong> the Proponent dated 10.07.20121. The PP has submitted revised areastatement. Plantation area is 20.12% andpaved area is 22.98% <strong>of</strong> the total land area.2. The PP has submitted the modified list <strong>of</strong>trees to be planted.3. The PP has already approached beforeNDITA for concurrence letter from thelocal authority for infrastructural supportservices and has submitted an undertakingdated 13.07.2012 in this regard.4. 20 nos. <strong>of</strong> solar street lights have beenproposed.5. The PP has submitted that necessarypermission from the competent authorityfor tree cutting is under process and hassubmitted an undertaking dated 13.07.2012in this regard.6. The PP has submitted brief description <strong>of</strong>hazardous waste, chemicals and chemicaleffluent expected to be generated from lab.Hazardous wastes will be disposed as perWBPCB norms. Biomedical Wastes will bedisposed <strong>of</strong>f through contract with M/sSembramky Environmental ManagementPvt. Ltd. The chemical effluent will bedisposed <strong>of</strong>f through West Bengal WasteManagement Limited. The PP hassubmitted an undertaking dated 13.07.2012that the institute will be using little quantity<strong>of</strong> chemicals and no chemical waste will bedischarged from their campus to municipalsewer. Radioactive waste shall be handledas per the AERB guidelines.The matter was placed before the <strong>SEAC</strong> in the 69 th <strong>meeting</strong> held on 25.07.2012.
