(Pakistan <strong>Civil</strong> <strong>Aviation</strong> <strong>Authority</strong>)DCP <strong>Manual</strong>b) Annually, thereafter, the pilot will be checked as in the above paragraphby an Inspector or a DCP;c) Semi-annually (every six months) the pilot shall be checked during onecompleted take-off at 600 RVR unless otherwise authorized by anOperations Specifications.d) All 600 RVR flight test exercises will be completed in an approved FlightSimulation Training Device; ande) The pilot's check report will be annotated in 'takeoff minima' box orwherePPCs are required annually, the pilot's training records must beannotated to indicate successful completion of the 600 RVR take offsequence.5.5 CATEGORY II/III OPERATIONS (CHECKS)5.5.1 Each Captain of an Air Operator that has been issued a Category Il/IllOperations Specification is required to have a Category Il/Ill check in anapproved Category Il/Ill Flight Simulation Training Device annually /biannually. The <strong>Pilot</strong>'s check report shall be annotated in the landing minimabox. If an Air Operator has been issued both CAT II and CAT III operationsspecifications, successive, 6 month PPC's in an approved Flight SimulationTraining Device will alternate CAT II and CAT III renewal checks.5.5.2 The Captain's initial check will include one Category II ILS approach duringwhich a practical emergency is introduced. This is for the express purposeof coordination in decision-making and the resultant missed approach. Acategory III approach is to be conducted to a landing in Category III weatherminima.5.5.3 For the purpose of assessment standards, a successful approach is definedas one in which, at the decision height (Category II), decision point/alertheight (Category Ill): the captain has successfully demonstrated:a) his knowledge of the required weather limits, airborne and groundequipment required to conduct a CAT II/III approach;b) the ability to coordinate crew activities concurrent to CAT II/IIIoperations;1 st Edition Page 25 of 80 May, 2011c) adequate monitoring of system performance throughout the approach;d) sound judgment and decision making skills relative to the conduct andcontinuance or discontinuance of the approach; ande) meet the standards outlined in Section 6.8 of this manual.
