The growth projections in this plan were used to develop thefuture water demand projections for <strong>Bellevue</strong> that are used in both this plan and the Cascade<strong>Water</strong> Alliance 2005 Transmission Supply <strong>Plan</strong>.SOURCE OF SUPPLY<strong>Bellevue</strong> is one <strong>of</strong> several purveyors in the Seattle area that are members <strong>of</strong> the Cascade <strong>Water</strong>Alliance (Cascade). Cascade is responsible for all <strong>of</strong> <strong>Bellevue</strong>’s water supply requirements.Cascade is also responsible for planning and developing a long-term water supply plan for itsmembers.Currently, Cascade receives water from the Seattle Public Utilities’ (SPU) Cedar and Toltsupplies. To transport water from these two supplies, SPU has three major transmissionpipelines in the <strong>Bellevue</strong> service area: the Tolt Eastside Supply Line (TESSL), the Cedar RiverEastside Supply Line (CESSL), and the Mercer Island Pipeline.The Cascade <strong>Water</strong> Alliance’s regional supply options are identified in their TSP and includesupply from one or more <strong>of</strong> the following:• Lake Tapps• Seattle Public Utilities Cedar and Tolt Rivers Supply• Tacoma <strong>Water</strong> Division Second Green River Diversion Supply• Snoqualmie River Aquifer (North Bend)• Supplies associated with reuse and reclaimed supplyTo support regional supply objectives, <strong>Bellevue</strong> participates in Cascade’s regional waterconservation program to supplement its local conservation program.As part <strong>of</strong> the Seattle/Cascade water supply contract, SPU is primarily responsible for thequality <strong>of</strong> water delivered. The water quality delivered complies with all state and federal rulesand regulations. SPU samples at various locations throughout the <strong>Bellevue</strong> service area toverify compliance with state and federal regulations including chemical and bacteriologicalparameters.3-20
