Evaluation of water supply system – Case study in Naka, Nigeria7 Conclusion7.1 Extent of meeting aim and objectivesThis thesis project met the initial objective to carry out an independent evaluation ofthe quality and quantity of water supply, revealing that the piped-water system wasnot working properly. Recommendations to improve the existing system wereproposed instead of the expansion plan, giving priority to sustainability of watersupply rather than impacts only. The assessment of the needs of the WCA werepartially addressed, as the WCA was not owning the water system at the moment ofthe research and as all executive committee members have not been interviewedspecifically. The water quality records from the WTP have been monitored as part ofthe evaluation of the system.As the results of this evaluation were presented orally to the WCA members duringthe WCA meeting in July and discussed, the process of learning from the evaluationdid happen. Prime results were shared as well with almost all stakeholders during theSteering Committee Meeting (Wateraid could not attend this meeting).All these lead to the achievement of the overall aim, to provide some support to theBenue State Government in its projects to increase access to safe water supply andsanitation.Cranfield University at Silsoe 35 Florianne Bourrigault (2006)
