Thehousehold annual expenditure inrural CHTis lower than that<strong>of</strong> rural Bangladesh (Tk. 62,283 vs. 73,000) . The share <strong>of</strong> foodexpendituree is extremely high across the communities. It isabout 90%<strong>of</strong> totalhousehold expenditure. The annualhousehold expendituree on healthh and education for anaveragehousehold are extremely low with Tk.605 and398 respectively.The share <strong>of</strong> annual household spending for the maintenance <strong>of</strong>female members is disproportionately low (around 30%) i.e.,average female member in CHT household is two-folddiscriminated than their malecounterpart. This is alsoindicative <strong>of</strong> high extent <strong>of</strong> intra-household discriminationagainst women.
