Among the mono-indigenous paras, Marma (28%)and Chakma (27%) paras are the majority, followed by Bawm and Mro (10%), Tripura (7%),Khumi and Tanchangya (5% each).3.4 Infrastructures and Institutions in Paras in CHTAround 80% <strong>of</strong> the paras in theCHT have earthen roads. Theparas in CHT are in lack <strong>of</strong>possessing metallic roads - only16% villages in CHT havemetallic roads. Half <strong>of</strong> the parasin CHT have NGO School. Onethird<strong>of</strong> the paras have govt.primary school. Rarely a para inCHT has a high school. In paras<strong>of</strong> CHT there is not much number<strong>of</strong> health service providers.Around one-fifth <strong>of</strong> the parashave satellite clinic. Aninsignificant number <strong>of</strong> parashave community clinics andUH&FWCs. Around a half <strong>of</strong> theparas have accessible privateforest. A one-third <strong>of</strong> the parashave reserve forest <strong>of</strong> mouza andaccessible river. A 9% <strong>of</strong> thevillages have hat/bazaar. Twothirds<strong>of</strong> the villages have places <strong>of</strong> worship. It is to be noted that in spite <strong>of</strong> some variations,the overall trend <strong>of</strong> possessing the above infrastructures and institutions in the three districts<strong>of</strong> CHT (Rangamati, Khagrachari, Bandarban) is similar.3.5 Distances between Major Infrastructures and Institutions from ParaDistances between some majorinfrastructures and institutions fromthe paras in CHT have been foundout in this baseline survey. Averagedistance between para and metallicroad in CHT is 4.5 km. UnionParishads and Upazila Parishads arerespectively 2.2 km. and 5.7 awayfrom the paras in CHT on average.The average distance between hat/bazaar and paras in CHT is about 7km.
