If however <strong>in</strong>stead <strong>of</strong> deposit<strong>in</strong>g the earnest money <strong>in</strong> cash <strong>in</strong>treasury, a contractor wishes to deposit the same <strong>in</strong> any <strong>of</strong> the follow<strong>in</strong>g firms. heshould be permitted to do so :(i) Treasury receipts(ii) National Sav<strong>in</strong>gs Certificates(iii) Treasury Bonds(iv) Approved <strong>in</strong>terest bear<strong>in</strong>g Securities(v) Government Promissory Notes <strong>in</strong> National Plan Loans.(vi) Post Office Cash Certificates(vii) 10 years Treasury Sav<strong>in</strong>g / Deposit Certificates(viii) 12 years National Sav<strong>in</strong>g Certificates.(ix) 10 years Defence Deposit Certificates(x) National Sav<strong>in</strong>g Certificate duly hypothecated <strong>in</strong> the name <strong>of</strong> Government <strong>of</strong>C.G.(xi) Demand draft SBI or Scheduled Banks.(xii) Bank drafts issued by big Urban Banks whose work<strong>in</strong>g capital exceed Rs. 5Crores and by “A”. “B” and “C” class Central / Co- operative Banks / Non-Scheduled State Co- operative Banks subject to the condition that the drafts areencashed by the accept<strong>in</strong>g authority as soon as they are received. The contractsallotted only the encashment <strong>of</strong> drafts as per M.P.F.D. No. F/2/18/77/R/5 (iv)13-2-1978.2.5.2 The earnest money <strong>in</strong> one <strong>of</strong> the prescribed <strong>for</strong>ms should be produced/ sentseparately and not kept <strong>in</strong> the covers conta<strong>in</strong><strong>in</strong>g the tenders and if the earnestmoney is not <strong>in</strong> accordance with the prescribed mode the tenders would be returnedunopened to the tenderer.
