We wouldlike to encourage graduate students to apply using this new systemwhich will allow students to track their admission progress and conductmost of the admission process, including credit card payments,electronically.An application for admission to the Graduate College may be obtainedfrom the departmental office in the academic area of specialization orfrom 120 Education Building. Requests for applications can also besubmitted by E-mail to admissions@mail.ed.uiuc.edu. Once submitted,the application is processed and coded by the admissions processingoffice. The admission fee that accompanies the application serves as anonrefundable processing fee. Once the application is coded, it isforwarded from the admissions processing office to the Departmentwithin the College of Education.Upon receipt of the coded application and other required materials, themajor department reviews it and makes a recommendation foradmission or denial. This recommendation is sent to the InstructionalPrograms Office which acts on the recommendation. Therecommendation is forwarded to the graduate admissions office for bothprocessing and Graduate College approval. The applicant usuallyreceives notification of recommendation for acceptance or denial fromthe departmental area of specialization before receiving notification fromthe admissions processing office. The action of the admissionsprocessing office is the official decision.10
