External Modulating ControlSECTION XII - External ModulatingControlThe boiler can directly accept an analog 0-10VDC signal to control the firing rate from anexternal modulating boiler controller.Wiring the Modulating ControllerRun two 18 gauge wires from the externalmodulating boiler controllers 0-10 VDC boileroutput to the external input terminals on thelow voltage terminal strip inside the boiler. (seeboiler wiring diagram, Fig. 20 page 32). Thissignal will both enable and modulate the boiler.No wiring is required at the thermostat (T-T) terminals 7 and 8 of the boiler.NOTICEEnsure that Parameter 4 is set above thehighest setpoint of the external modulatingcontrol. Paramater 4 is a boiler hightemperature limit when using an externalmodulating controller.Programming of External ModulatingControlThe external modulating control must be programmedto send 1.8 VDC to enable the boilerand run it at low fire, and 10 VDC to run theboiler at high fire. Once the control enables theboiler, it must wait 2 minutes to allow the burnerto stabilize before modulating the boiler.NOTICEEnsure that the polarity of the connectionsfrom the external modulating boilercontroller to the boiler is correct.Reversed polarity could lead to erraticand/or no response from the boiler controller.Parameter AdjustmentThe <strong>Prestige</strong> MCBA control module must beprogrammed to accept the 0-10 VDC signalfrom the external modulating boiler control.CH Operating Signal Section(Parameter 45)Follow the procedure for entering the MCBAAccess Code on page 52, and then change thesetting of Paramater 45 from the factory settingof 00 to 02.54
