“via historica” cultural route
One of the most picturesque theme routes in
the Traunsee region, the “Via Historica” cultural
route is there to be explored in Traunkirchen.
Fifteen ambitiously designed enamel display
panels with texts by renowned author Alfred
Komarek accompany a walk, travelling step by step in time through
the millennium. Duration approx. 45 minutes per stage, difference in
altitude approx. 100 m.
1st stage: Ortsplatz – Johannesberg – Monastery garden – Parish church
– Klosterplatz – Ortsplatz
2nd stage: Ortsplatz – “Alte Strasse” – Calvary mountain – Malerwinkl

The new museum guide provides you with information
on all of the interesting museums in the Traunsee
area. The Needlework Museum in the historic rooms
of the erstwhile convent is a true jewel. The gold bonnet and headscarf groups
of the Gmunden area have opened their needlework museum after years of
amassing their collections offering a lovingly compiled exhibition that shows
34 needlework techniques and ranges from typical regional handicraft to
festive clothing and this region’s traditional salon costumes.
