support from the developed countries holds the key to the successful implementation of anyPost 2015 Development Agenda.It is agreed that post 2015 Development Agenda has to be a transformative agenda,which would essentially be people centred, peace centric and right based, <strong>in</strong>clusive,participatory and accountable <strong>in</strong> nature, planet car<strong>in</strong>g, and generate a shared and susta<strong>in</strong>ableprosperity for all. While identify<strong>in</strong>g the Post 2015 Development Agenda, it was thoughtprudent to keep the achievements of <strong>Bangladesh</strong> <strong>in</strong> the forefront. It is possible that theseexperiences could not only make a compell<strong>in</strong>g case of demonstrable success, but also presenta model to be replicated around the world as a part of Post 2015 Susta<strong>in</strong>able DevelopmentAgenda.7. Post 2015 Era Goals and TargetsThe draft has been organized under broad 11 Goals. The first goal entitled 'Unleashhuman potentials for susta<strong>in</strong>able development' focuses on the people as the central element <strong>in</strong>the development process, and touches on harness<strong>in</strong>g the potential of all segments ofpopulation. Targets practically cover the <strong>in</strong>terests of all segments of population. Under thegoals entitled 'Eradicate poverty and reduce <strong>in</strong>equality' ambitious targets have been proposedto completely elim<strong>in</strong>ate extreme poverty by 2030 and accelerate pro-poor growth forreduc<strong>in</strong>g <strong>in</strong>equality. On the goal entitled 'Ensure susta<strong>in</strong>able food security and nutrition forall' special attention has been given to develop targets for ensur<strong>in</strong>g nutrition of pregnantwomen, ensur<strong>in</strong>g safe food, diversify food supply and promote dietary diversity. Under thegoal entitled 'Universal access to health and family plann<strong>in</strong>g services', targets <strong>in</strong>cludeensur<strong>in</strong>g basic health services and reproductive health rights along with efforts to control andif possible elim<strong>in</strong>ate non-communicable diseases and climate <strong>in</strong>duced diseases anddevelopment disorders. Under the goal of 'Achieve gender equality' elim<strong>in</strong>ation of violenceaga<strong>in</strong>st girls and women, child labour and ensur<strong>in</strong>g role of women <strong>in</strong> decision mak<strong>in</strong>gprocess have been <strong>in</strong>cluded as targets.On 'Ensure quality education and skills for all', <strong>in</strong> addition to attach<strong>in</strong>g importance toachiev<strong>in</strong>g 100% enrolment target <strong>in</strong> primary education, ma<strong>in</strong>stream<strong>in</strong>g of TVET, skillstra<strong>in</strong><strong>in</strong>g has been suggested along with lifelong education to make the young populationready for the <strong>in</strong>creas<strong>in</strong>gly competitive complex job market.The goal on 'Increase employment opportunities and ensure worker rights' talks aboutcreat<strong>in</strong>g opportunities for decent employment, <strong>in</strong>clud<strong>in</strong>g <strong>in</strong> the <strong>in</strong>formal sector, legalframework on worker rights, equal wages for men and women, and migration as a part ofdevelopment dynamics.On the goal relat<strong>in</strong>g to 'Ensure good governance', issues rang<strong>in</strong>g from globalgovernance to local governance have been <strong>in</strong>cluded as targets along with strengthen<strong>in</strong>g theaccountability and transparency <strong>in</strong>stitutions, empower<strong>in</strong>g people through effectiveimplementation of right to <strong>in</strong>formation (RTI) regimes and remov<strong>in</strong>g barriers to marketaccess.146
