In the absence of robust data on the actual number of children orphaned by AIDS, it isbelieved that due to the very low prevalence of HIV <strong>in</strong> <strong>Bangladesh</strong> and coupled with<strong>in</strong>formation available from community-based organizations <strong>in</strong>volved <strong>in</strong> provid<strong>in</strong>g supportand care for people liv<strong>in</strong>g with HIV, the number of AIDS-specific orphans currently is verylow <strong>in</strong> <strong>Bangladesh</strong>.Target 6.B: Achieve, by 2010, universal access to treatment for HIV/AIDS for all those whoneed itIndicator 6.5: Proportion of population with advanced HIV <strong>in</strong>fection with access toantiretroviral drugsThe <strong>United</strong> <strong>Nations</strong> General Assembly Special Session (UNGASS) <strong>Report</strong> 2009 shows theproportion of population with advanced HIV <strong>in</strong>fection with access to antiretroviral drugscoverage is 47.7 percent (353/740) <strong>in</strong> <strong>Bangladesh</strong> based on a study. However, data fromNational AIDS/STD Programme (NASP) under the DGHS show the proportion to be 100percent.Target 6.C: Have halted by 2015 and begun to reverse the <strong>in</strong>cidence of malaria and othermajor diseasesIndicator 6.6: Incidence and death rates associated with malariaIndicator 6.6a: Prevalence of malaria per 100,000 populationThe prevalence of malaria per 100,000 population was 441.5 <strong>in</strong> 2005.
