Part C — Analysis Functions 297Overlap WaveformsOverlapping waveforms places all of the waveforms at the same scale and midpoint so that the plottinglocation of a specific voltage on screen is at the same spot for every channel. Overlapping is useful forexamining closely associated waveforms, such as the calculated diastolic, systolic and mean calculationchannels “overlapped” with the raw blood pressure waveform from a continuous blood pressure signal. In scope mode, when Overlap Waveforms is selected, the waveforms are “overlapped” into one screen. All ofthe currently displayed waveforms are arranged in the graph window with the same vertical scale and offsetso all the displayed waveforms will fit on the graph; their magnitude reflects their size relative to the otherwaveforms. The overall chosen scale for all the displayed waveforms will be a function of the pk-pk value ofthe combined wavesBefore Overlapping in Scope modeAfter Overlapping in Scope (red lines for illustration only)Compare WaveformsCompare Waveforms displays all of the channels with the same amplitude scale. Compare Waveformsautomatically sets the vertical scale to be the same for all channels and adjusts each channel offset so that alldisplayed waves are centered in the display. The scale for all the displayed channels is determined by thechannel with the largest pk-pk range in the display interval. Compare Waveforms is useful for gauging therelative amplitudes of a number of channels by placing them all on the same amplitude scale and discountingthe effect of waveform offset (or baseline). In Chart mode, Compare Waveforms functions on each channel in its track. In Scope mode, the channel scaling is similar but disperses the channels through the plot area similarto tiling.
