Part D — Appendices 341Appendix E - Customizing Menu FunctionalityBSL PRO now includes a powerful customization feature lets you choose the program features to display as menuoptions. If you have a specific procedure, you can limit the menu options to list only those functions you need, thereby reducing the chance for confusion or error in your lab. For instance, you might choose to remove the“Setup Triggering” and “Output Control” options from the MP menu, as shown below:Default MP menuCustomized MP menuFollow the simple procedure below to customize menu display for your own needs.1. With the BSL PRO application closed, navigate to the menu.dsc file: DRIVE:\ProgramData\BIOPACSystems, Inc\Biopac Student Lab 4.0\menu.dsc2. Open the menu.dsc file in Notepad.3. Find the menu and item you want to change (scroll through list as necessary) and type “OFF” to disable themenu display. For example, you might change the File > New option to OFF, as shown below.‣ Note that ON/OFF is case-sensitive and you must type in ALL CAPS.‣ Deleting a file listing instead of typing OFF will not remove the feature; it will default to ON unless youtype OFF.4. Save the changes to the menu.dsc file and close it.5. Restart BSL PRO.6. Check your menu listing. To reactivate a menu item set to OFF, just repeat the above procedure and type “ON” for thedesired menu item.To revert a customized menu.dsc to the factory default, choose Display > Preferences > Otherand select “Create default menu configuration file.” After choosing “yes’ in the subsequentdialog, the application must be closed and relaunched in order for the change to take effect.Note:Application menu customization has a corresponding effect on contextual menu display. If a contextualmenu item does not have a corresponding application menu item, the menu customization file identifierwill begin with “IDM_CM.”BSL PRO Manual
