7Checking the meterA beep will sound (if Beeper is turned on) and thedisplay check will be displayed, followed by the numberof available tests.2 Check that there are no irregularities in thecheckerboard pattern.Then the meter advances a test area to the tip of thecassette.Shortly after the test area has been advanced to the tipof the cassette, the prompt Apply blood will appear anda beep will sound (if Beeper is turned on). The promptalso applies to control solution.178
Checking the meter 73 Twist the cap off the applicator. Be careful not tosqueeze the applicator too hard while doing this soas to not lose any control solution.4 Hold the applicator at a slight angle with the brushpointing downwards.5 Squeeze the applicator gently until you see a smalldrop appear at the end of the brush.6 Then stop squeezing.The drop will then be absorbed back into the brush.The brush is now ready to use.you can hold the meter in your hand or lay it downwhile you apply control solution to the test area.do not hold the meter with the test area pointingupwards. If you hold the meter with the test areapointing upwards, control solution could enterthe meter and soil it.179
