Chapter 7: The MIXER/EFFECTS KeyThe Stereo Output MixerThe <strong>MPC</strong><strong>3000</strong> has a 64 channel stereo mixer, providing a uniquevolume and pan value for each of the 64 note number assignments(35-98) in the active program.To adjust the stereo mixer, press the MIXER/EFFECTS key, thenselect option 1. The following screen will appear:This is a graphic simulation of a multi-channel stereo mixer, showinga simulated volume slider and pan knob for each of the 16 padsin pad bank A (A01-A16).To show the settings for the other 3 pad banks, press the PADBANK key until the desired bank (A-D) is active.To adjust the volume of a particular sound:1. Press the pad for the sound that you want to adjust; the smalltriangle on the screen will move directly above the number of theselected pad.2. Rotate the data entry control. As you turn it, the graphic volumeslider will move up or down, indicating that the volume of theselected sound is being changed.To adjust the pan position of a particular sound:1. Press the pad that you want to adjust; the small triangle on thescreen will move directly above the number of the selected pad.2. Press the CURSOR UP key. The small triangle will now pointupwards, toward the graphic pan knob.3. Rotate the data entry control. As you turn it, the graphic panknob will move between one of 15 pan positions, indicating thatthe pan setting of the selected pad is being changed.Notice that the screen displays pad numbers, yet the mixer containsvolume and pan data for each of the 64 note number assignments(35-98) in the active program. For each pad number on the screen,the volume and pan data shown is from the note number (35-98)within the active program to which the pad number is currentlyassigned (in the MIDI key, option 1 screen). If you want to be ableto adjust mix data by selecting a specific note number regardless ofPage 134
