Chapter 7: The MIXER/EFFECTS KeyEffects GeneratorThe <strong>MPC</strong><strong>3000</strong> contains an internal effects generator capable of anumber of delay effects. To access the settings of the effects generator,select option 5 from the MIXER/EFFECTS menu screen. Thefollowing screen will appear:============ Effects (Delay) ===========Delay 1=Vol:100Pan:50LTime:1486Fdbk:100Delay 2=Delay 3=00CC14861486100100========================================(FX=ON )There are three separate delays. Each has the following fields:• The Vol (Volume) field:This field sets the volume level to the stereo mix, simulating theeffects return level on a hardware mixing console.• The Pan field:This field sets the pan position within the stereo mix.• The Time field:This field sets the delay time, from 1 to 1486 milliseconds.• The Fdbk (feedback) field:This sets the amount of delayed signal fed back into the delay input.The range is from 0 to 100%.COMMENT: The feedback level of each delay is independentof the volume level. This means that if at least one Volumefield is set above 0, then all of the Feedback fields willproduce feedback if set above 0.COMMENT: Since all three delays use the same delaymemory, the feedback of one delay will include the feedbackof the others and will therefore add together. For this reason,be sure that the sum of the three Feedback fields does notexceed 100% or infinite feedback will occur.COMMENT: The values used in this screen are normallytaken from the active program. Because of this, whenever theactive program is changed, the newly selected program’seffects settings will immediately become active. However, it isalso possible to use effects data from the active sequence sothat each newly selected sequence will have its own customPage 145
