Chapter 8: Creating and Editing SoundsEditing a soundThis function is used to edit a sound in your <strong>MPC</strong><strong>3000</strong>. The availableediting features are:• Edit the sound’s parameter data, including:• Initial volume• Initial tuning• Soft start address• Soft end address• Automatically find the best soft start address• Edit the sound’s sample data, including:• Copy a portion of the sound and insert the copy at anyother point within the same sound or a different sound.• Delete, reverse, or silence any portion of the sound.To edit a sound, press the PROGRAM/SOUNDS key, then type 6.The following screen will appear:=== Edit Sound:Sound_name (ST) ===--- Sound Params -- --- Edit Samples --Soft st :000.000.00 Zone st :000.000.00Soft end:000.000.00 Zone end:000.000.00Length:000.000.00 Play X:AFTR SFT ENDVol%:100 Tune:+ 0 Do:COPY ZONE->TEMP=================== ================== There are two parts to this screen—Sound Params and EditSamples. Sound Params permits the editing of certain parametersstored with the sound file that affect its playback. Edit Samplespermits actual editing of the sound’s sample data.The Sound Parameters section of the screen (left side)The fields and soft keys are:• The Edit Sound field (title line of screen):This field is used to select the sound to be edited. It can be selectedin one of two ways:1. Press one of the front panel pads. The sound currentlyassigned to that pad will be selected.2. Use the data entry control. Each click of the control willselect the next sound in an alphabetized list of all availablesounds in memory.Page 154
