Chapter 9: Saving to and Loading from Disk1. The All Programs and Sounds file (APS), which contains the datafor all 24 programs and the names of all sounds in memory (butnot the sound data itself), is saved.2. Each sound in memory (even sounds not currently assigned to aprogram) is individually saved as a sound file. If a sound file onthe disk has the same name as the sound being saved, the newsound won’t be saved. The fields and soft keys are:• The File name field:Enter the name for the file in this field. The name can be changed inthe same way as the Sequence Name field in the Play/Record screen. The file’s extension will be APS.• The Disk field:This field has the same function as in the Save Sequence screendescribed above.• The Size field:This field shows the combined size of the APS file and all individualsound files to be saved. (APS files require 48K.) Since sound fileswith the same name as those already on disk won’t be saved, it ispossible that not as much free space will be needed as is indicated inthis field.• The Free field:This shows the amount of free space on the selected disk.COMMENT: The MPC3000 will allow large APS files to besaved onto multiple disks. If the total size of the APS file andits sound files exceeds the free space on the inserted floppydisk, a warning will appear on the screen, informing youhow many disks will be needed. The MPC3000 will save theAPS file and as many sound files as will fit onto the firstdisk. Then, it will present a screen asking you to insertanother disk and will save as many sound files as will fitonto that disk. This process will continue until all files havebeen saved. To load this APS file later, simply load the APSfile from the first disk—it will load along with the sound filesfrom the first disk, then a screen will appear asking you toinsert the other disks, one by one, in order to load the remainingsound files.• The soft key:Press this key to save to disk the APS file and each individual soundfile currently in memory.Page 171
