Fire Station AlertingFire station alerting shall be per<strong>for</strong>med on <strong>the</strong> SLOFD channel. The current system uses DTMFcodes to activate systems at each station. Proposers shall indicate how <strong>the</strong> new system willsupport this existing signaling method, or propose an alternate signaling method.Control stations <strong>for</strong> fire station alerting are included in <strong>the</strong> Control Station Equipment quantitiesin this Section.It is <strong>the</strong> intent of <strong>the</strong> City that contractor shall provide an interface between <strong>the</strong> new DispatchCenter radio control equipment/system and <strong>the</strong> new (to be determined) Fire Station AlertingSystem. Although this new Fire Station Alerting System has not been identified yet, it is believedthat one of <strong>the</strong> following contractors will be granted <strong>the</strong> competitive bid:• Locution Systems, Inc.• Zetron, Inc.• ComTech Communications• West Net, Inc.• Motorola (RTU-based technology)It is <strong>the</strong> intent to bring on-line <strong>the</strong> new Dispatch Center, <strong>the</strong> new Radio System and <strong>the</strong> new FireStation Alerting System at <strong>the</strong> same time. The contractor shall allocate resources to support <strong>the</strong>seef<strong>for</strong>ts as needed.Conventional Backup RepeatersThe 919 Palm Street (downtown) site shall house <strong>the</strong> conventional PD GREEN B/U, SLOFD B/Uand PUB WORKS / UTIL 1 B/U repeaters. The VHF station shall be equipped with a duplexerand single antenna. The UHF stations shall utilize an expandable combiner and multicouplerarrangement and use two antennas <strong>for</strong> possible future expansion. As with o<strong>the</strong>r remote sites,contractor shall provide a DC battery float system equipped with space-efficient modularrectifiers.While <strong>the</strong>se stations shall be operated separately from <strong>the</strong> primary systems, City-owned darksingle-mode fiber shall be used to connect to Fire Station 1 <strong>for</strong> monitoring purposes.Additional EquipmentThe contractor shall furnish <strong>the</strong> following additional stations. Installation and testing shall beseparately quoted as Option “ADDEQUIP”. Equipment shall comply with specifications herein<strong>for</strong> <strong>the</strong> Station Type listed.Table 3 – Additional Equipment (Supply Only)Config.
