J. An internal adjustable "squelch" or muting control shall be provided to reduce backgroundnoise of idle channels and amplifier "white-noise" in each headset and speaker. Muting shallreduce noise to a minimum of 60 dB below reference level.K. An adjustable compression point <strong>for</strong> transmit audio on each position shall be provided.Expansion of audio during pauses in speech shall not cause a perceptible increase inbackground noise.L. A single-action mute control <strong>for</strong> each unselected channel shall be provided. Muting aspecific channel from one position shall not mute <strong>the</strong> same channel at o<strong>the</strong>r radio controlpositions.M. Each channel shall be equipped with an adjustable threshold control at which <strong>the</strong> (carrieroperated-switch)COS/BUSY display that will light, or unmute received audio.N. All positions will be capable of accessing <strong>the</strong> building’s public address system.O. The contractor’s radio workstation shall come with an instant recall recorder function.P. If <strong>the</strong> offering does not come with an existing instant recall recorder, provisions to control anexisting City GUI-based digital instant-recall recorder (Plant CML Vesta) shall be an integralpart of each radio control. It shall have <strong>the</strong> following features:Headsets1. Capable of three separate audio channels2. Capable of simultaneous record and playback3. Controls shall be integrated into <strong>the</strong> radio control panel4. Recorder status shall be displayed on <strong>the</strong> LCD5. It shall be possible to route <strong>the</strong> playback audio to <strong>the</strong> selected, unselected, monitor or adedicated recorder speaker6. Time stamped messages7. Capable of controlling this function on a per-position basis.Both wired and wireless headset access shall be provided <strong>for</strong> each supplied position.A. A single spare headset jack shall be provided at each radio control position, which will beused as backup. Jacks shall be standard dual 1/4" types (RJ-327 type plug). Insertion of aheadset plug into a jack shall automatically mute <strong>the</strong> select speaker at that position. Amanual override <strong>for</strong> this feature shall be provided. Workstations shall have a technicianadjustableside-tone level. Headsets shall operate primarily with radio and intercom systemsas selected by <strong>the</strong> dispatcher and with telephone systems based on off-hook status of <strong>the</strong>associated telephone instrument.B. Headset jacks shall function as 6-wire, with capability of push-to-talk on <strong>the</strong> headset cord.They shall be also compatible with a 4-wire headset.C. Each position will be equipped with a wireless headset adaptor or base station.
