I. Channels: Radios and associated control heads shall be capable of any combination of 256channels/talk groups (minimum, not including talkaround channels using a switch or button),up to 256 digital conventional systems, and sixteen digital systems (minimum).J. Channels: Radios and associated control heads shall be capable of any combination of 256analog conventional or digital conventional channels (if applicable) not including talkaroundchannels using a switch or button.Mobile Radio Features (Police)Mobile radio equipment and motorcycle radios shall be equipped with <strong>the</strong> following features:A. Mobile radio transceiver shall be remote-mounted unless specified o<strong>the</strong>rwise.B. The radio shall be equipped with a control head with a 14-character dot-matrix alphanumericdisplay to allow <strong>the</strong> user to assign a descriptive name to each operating condition. Controlhead displays shall be clearly labeled and visible in bright sunlight, with variable brightness.The display shall be ei<strong>the</strong>r backlit or vacuum florescent <strong>for</strong> night visibility.C. Multi-Control Head: Vehicles equipped with more than one control head may utilize a singleradio, which is interfaced to multiple control heads.D. Radios shall be capable of <strong>the</strong> following features (some features are described later in thissection):Priority ScanCaller ID DisplayEmergency AlarmPTT-IDE. Emergency Button: Radios shall be supplied with an emergency alert button that, whendepressed, will transmit <strong>the</strong> individual identification number of <strong>the</strong> unit in distress. Thebutton shall be protected from inadvertent activation.F. Priority Scan: Units will provide conventional priority scanning with <strong>the</strong> followingoperational requirements:1. Capable of priority scanning user-selected conventional channels. Radios shall becapable of prioritizing <strong>the</strong> selected channel, and of simultaneous scanning a mix ofup to 64 o<strong>the</strong>r conventional channels.2. Capable of instantaneously (in under 300 ms) locking-out up 64 active channels from<strong>the</strong> scan list by pressing a single switch, without deleting it from <strong>the</strong> user-definedscan list. The channel shall be "undeleted" by cycling <strong>the</strong> power, or by selecting adifferent channel.3. In priority scan mode, <strong>the</strong> display shall continue to show <strong>the</strong> selected channel (<strong>the</strong>channel that will be transmitted upon) unless ano<strong>the</strong>r active channel is beingreceived.G. Conventional talkaround: A button on <strong>the</strong> control head assembly shall enable <strong>the</strong> talkaroundfunction on any selected conventional repeater channel, using <strong>the</strong> receive CTCSS code as <strong>the</strong>transmit CTCSS code.
