FOOTBALL OPERATIONSLARRY WRIGHTPRO SCOUTJON CARRNATIONAL SCOUTLarry Wright Jr. is in his third seasonwith the Texans and is responsiblefor evaluating players on <strong>NFL</strong>rosters, street free agents, as well as players in the AFL,CFL, and UFL. He also works on advance scouting ofTexans opponents.From 2007-09, Larry was an assistant director of propersonnel with the Jacksonville Jaguars after servingas a pro scout with the team from 2004-07. He beganhis <strong>NFL</strong> career as a scouting assistant with Jacksonvillein 2003. Wright spent 2009 coaching running backs atWest Monroe High in West Monroe, La.Wright was the head coach at Ringgold (La.) HighSchool from 2001-2002, and in 2000 was a graduateassistant at Grambling State University, where hecoached running backs while earning his master’s degreein sport administration. In the summer of 2000 hewas a scouting intern with the Baltimore Ravens, and avolunteer strength and conditioning coach for the Gramblingbasketball team.Wright earned a degree in sociology at LouisianaTech, where he was a three-year letterman and teamcaptain in his senior season. He and his wife, Vincincia,have two daughters and one son, Victoria, Lauryn, andLarry III.Carr is in his sixth season with theTexans as a college scout and fi rstas a National Scout. Prior to joiningthe Texans, Carr coached the receivers at the Universityof Toledo in 2005-2006 and helped the Rockets win the2005 GMAC Bowl.Carr participated in the 2006 NCAA Expert Coach’sAcademy in Miami and was the offensive coordinator atEastern Illinois in 2003-04 prior to his tenure at Toledo.He joined the Tennessee State coaching staff in 1997and was promoted to offensive coordinator in 2000-02.Carr’s offense ranked third in I-AA in 2001 in passing(302 ypg), sixth in total offense (465 ypg) and 14th inscoring (35.4 ppg).During the summer of 2002, Carr was a member ofthe Oakland Raiders’ preseason coaching staff as partof the <strong>NFL</strong>’s Minority Internship Program. He has alsoworked with the National Football League Properties asthe Program Coordinator for Chicago and Detroit summeryouth inner-city football camps.Carr was a quarterback at Southeast Missouri Statefrom 1987-89 before he transferred to Purdue, where heearned a degree in law and society in 1991.Carr has one son, Corbyn, and he and his wife, Shenikwa,are parents of two girls, Kennedy and Kayla.50 <strong>2012</strong> <strong>HOUSTON</strong> <strong>TEXANS</strong> <strong>MEDIA</strong> <strong>GUIDE</strong>
