They raced toa 34-0 halftime lead before cruising to a 34-7 fi nishin front of 71,444 fans at Reliant Stadium.With Arian Foster sidelined by a hamstring injury,RB Ben Tate had 24 carries for 116 yards and atouchdown in his <strong>NFL</strong> debut. OLB Mario Williamshad two sacks and a forced fumble, and DE AntonioSmith had one sack and forced fumble.The Texans opened the scoring on their seconddrive, when QB Matt Schaub drove the Texans 73yards in 13 plays for a 25-yard Neil Rackers fi eldgoal.The Texans scored two touchdowns in a spanof 1:15 after Colts QB Kerry Collins fumbled onconsecutive plays late in the fi rst quarter. The fi rstfumble came on Smith’s sack and was recoveredby Shaun Cody at the Colts’ 12-yard line. DerrickWard ran in for a 1-yard touchdown three playslater.Collins fumbled again on the next play, and Texansrookie DE J.J. Watt recovered at the Indianapolis18 to set up a 2-yard touchdown run by Tate.Schaub had three passes for 53 yards to WR AndreJohnson on a 10-play, 89-yard scoring drivein the second quarter, including a four-yard touchdown.Johnson fi nished the game with a team-highseven catches for 95 yards.That was followed by a nine-play, 51-yard drivethat ended with a 29-yard fi eld goal by Rackers. WRJacoby Jones tacked on another score with a fi eldreversing79-yard punt return in the fi nal minute ofthe fi rst half.The Texans’ 34-0 halftime lead was the biggest inteam history. They outgained the Colts 259-72 in thefi rst half, limiting Indianapolis to fi ve fi rst downs.The Colts scored with 9:17 left in the fourth quarterafter Tate lost a fumble at the Texans’ 13-yard line.They drove to the Texans’ seven-yard line on theirnext drive, but Williams sacked Collins on third-andfive.
