FOOTBALL OPERATIONSDOUG WESTDIRECTOR OF FOOTBALL OPERATIONSDoug West is in his 17th seasonin the <strong>NFL</strong> and his sixth with theTexans. West was named directorof football operations in September 2010. He overseesteam travel, training camp and game day operationswhich include all aspects dealing directly on the fi eldwith the game, Texans and the visiting team.On game day, he is responsible for overseeing thesideline <strong>com</strong>munication equipment as well as instant replayequipment. He serves as the team liaison with the<strong>NFL</strong>, the offi cials and the visiting team; he also handlescatering in all Texan areas.West oversees the team practice facility and Texansareas in Reliant Stadium, including scheduling, cleaningand maintenance. He is responsible for maintaining theday-to-day football operations budget as well as planningfor future large expenditures and projects.West joined the Texans as football operations managerin August 2007, overseeing team travel planning andlodging throughout the year. Prior to joining the Texans,West worked with Reebok as an <strong>NFL</strong> glove and footwearspecialist, beginning in 2004. From 1993-2003,West was the head equipment manager for the DenverBroncos, where he worked with several current Texansstaff members, including head coach Gary Kubiak andgeneral manager Rick Smith.West was the head equipment manager from 1988-90 at the University of Northern Colorado before takingon the same role for the Birmingham Fire of the WorldLeague of American Football from 1991-92 under headcoach Chan Gailey.West earned a bachelor’s degree in social sciencesfrom Colorado State in 1988, where he was a studentworker for the football team for four years. He has threesons, Gunnar, Griffi n and Graham. He is single and residesin Missouri City, Texas.SEAN WASHINGTONDIRECTOR OF PLAYER ENGAGEMENTSean Washington is in his sixthseason with the Texans as directorof player engagement. Washingtonis responsible for assisting players and their familieswith transition in and out of the organization, continuingeducation, life skills seminars, gaining exposure to businessopportunities and career internships. He serves asa key resource for players to minimize their off-the-fi elddistractions and is the central fi gure in providing supportservice for players and their families.Prior to joining the Texans, Washington worked for adecade with high school students, mentoring, teachingand coaching around the Houston area. Washingtonpreviously coached at Alief Elsik High School, AngletonHigh School and was the Texas Sports DevelopmentAcademy youth camp director.Washington played defensive back for the New OrleansSaints in 1994 as an undrafted free agent andthen played in the World Bowl with the Amsterdam Admiralsin 1995.Washington, a Houston native, attended Waltrip HighSchool and earned his degree in sport managementfrom Rice University in 1994.
