AFC DIVISIONAL: Baltimore 20, Houston 1371,547 • M&T Stadium • Houston, Texas • Jan. 15, <strong>2012</strong>GAME SUMMARYHouston gave up 17 points off four turnovers in a20-13 loss to the Baltimore Ravens, ending Houston’splayoff run in the Divisional Round at M&T Bank Stadium.The Texans controlled the line of scrimmage on bothsides of the ball, limiting Ray Rice, the <strong>NFL</strong>’s secondleadingrusher, to 60 yards on 21 carries (2.9 average).Arian Foster ran 27 times for 132 yards, the highestrushing total ever allowed by the Ravens in a postseasongame.The Texans sacked Ravens QB Joe Flacco fi vetimes, with 2.5 sacks apiece for rookies J.J. Watt andBrooks Reed. They allowed only three points in thefi nal 46 minutes of the game and 227 yards overall.The Ravens were 4-of-16 (25 percent) on third down.Baltimore recovered all three of its fumbles.After taking a 3-0 lead on the game’s opening drive,keyed by a 60-yard kickoff return by FS Danieal Manning,Houston forced the Ravens into a three-and-outon their fi rst possession. Texans WR Jacoby Jonestried to fi eld a 64-yard punt on a bounce at his own13-yard line. The ball bounced off Jones’ facemask,and the Ravens recovered at the 2. They scored threeplays later on a 1-yard pass from Flacco to TE KrisWilson.The Texans’ other three turnovers came on interceptionsby rookie QB T.J. Yates, who had thrown onlythree interceptions in his previous seven games.Late in the fi rst quarter, CB Lardarius Webb pickedoff Yates’ attempt to WR Andre Johnson at the Houston35-yard line, setting up a 10-yard touchdown passfrom Flacco to WR Anquan Boldin for a 17-3 lead with1:08 remaining in the quarter.The Texans trimmed the defi cit to 17-13 before intermissionon K Neil Rackers’ 33-yard fi eld goal anda 1-yard touchdown run by Foster to cap an 86-yarddrive.Both teams squandered opportunities in a scorelessthird quarter. Rackers missed a 50-yard fi eld goal thatwould have made it a 1-point game. The Ravens thendrove to the Texans’ 1-yard line before ILB Tim Dobbinsstuffed Rice for no gain on fourth-and-goal.Yates was picked off by Webb a second time with7:21 remaining at the Baltimore 29-yard line. That ledto a 44-yard fi eld goal by Ravens K Billy Cundiff with2:52 remaining, the only score of the second half.Yates moved the Texans to the Baltimore 38 at thetwo-minute warning. But he went deep for Johnsondown the right sideline on the next play and was pickedoff by S Ed Reed. The Texans got the ball on their own48-yard line with no timeouts, 45 seconds remainingand a chance to tie the game.
