FOOTBALL OPERATIONSGEOFF KAPLANDIRECTOR OF SPORTS MEDICINE/HEAD ATHLETIC TRAINERGeoff Kaplan is in his fourth seasonas the Houston Texans directorof sports medicine/head athletictrainer after spending the previous 14 seasons with theTennessee Titans/Houston Oilers as an assistant athletictrainer. The <strong>2012</strong> season marks Kaplan’s 20th inthe <strong>NFL</strong>.Kaplan joined the Houston Oilers full-time in 1995 afterserving as a season-long intern in 1994. Prior to joiningthe Oilers, Kaplan was a season-long intern with theGreen Bay Packers in 1993.A native of Parsippany, N.J., Kaplan earned his degreein physical therapy and a certifi cate in athletic trainingfrom the University of Wisconsin-Madison. He continuedhis education by be<strong>com</strong>ing a certifi ed strengthROLAND RAMIREZCOORDINATOR OF REHABILITATION/ASSISTANT ATHLETIC TRAINERand conditioning specialist in 1997, and <strong>com</strong>pleted hismaster’s degree from Tennessee State University in thesummer of 2003.In 2005, Kaplan was certifi ed as a clinical specialist insports physical therapy by the American Board of PhysicalTherapy Specialists. Kaplan frequently lectures on avariety of sports medicine topics, including the rehabilitationof athletic injuries to local and national organizations,hospitals and universities.Following the 2000 season, Kaplan was part of a Titanstraining staff that was named the <strong>NFL</strong> Training Staffof the Year by the Ed Block Foundation and the ProfessionalAthletic Trainers Society.Geoff and his wife, Shelly, have two sons; Everett andSawyer. They reside in Missouri City, Texas.Roland Ramirez is in his fi fth seasonas the Coordinator of Rehabilitation/AssistantAthletic Trainer withthe Texans. He held this same position with the AtlantaFalcons during the 2007 season, and served as a contractathletic trainer for the Tennessee Titans during the2005 and 2006 seasons. Ramirez also served as anassistant athletic trainer for the Nashville Kats ArenaFootball team (AFL) during the 2006 season.Prior to entering the ranks of the <strong>NFL</strong>, Ramirez workedas a physical therapist in an orthopedic and sportsmedicine clinic while <strong>com</strong>pleting his graduate work inathletic training. He earned a dual masters degree inphysical therapy and athletic training from the TexasTech University Health Sciences Center in 2004 and2005, respectively. Ramirez <strong>com</strong>pleted his undergraduatework at Texas Tech University, where he playedfootball from 1998-99.As a graduate student, Ramirez served as an athletictrainer for the baseball teams at Wayland BaptistUniversity and Lubbock Christian University. He alsoworked with the Texas Tech University football team duringthe 2004 season, and served as an intern strengthand conditioning coach prior to the 2004 season as well.He is board certifi ed as a clinical specialist in sportsphysical therapy by the American Board of PhysicalTherapy Specialists.
