The United Nations Register of ObjectsLaunched into Outer SpaceThe main objective of the Register is to provide data needed by othertreaties:OUTER SPACE TREATY affirms that States shall bear international responsibility for theirnational activities in outer space; refers to the State on whose registry an object launched into outerspace is carried.RESCUE AGREEMENTprovides that launching authority shall, upon request, furnishidentifying data prior to the return of an object it has launched.LIABILITY CONVENTIONestablishes international rules and procedures concerning theliability of launching States for damage caused by their spaceobjects.39
