MARSHALLNo weevils had previously been recorded from Rennell I., and those contained in thepresent collections are much too few to permit of any reliable faunistic conclusions.In all there are 17 species, of which 4 have been described as new (including onenew genus) and 3 are single specimens which can be identified only generically. Of theremaining 10, 5 are widely distributed in the Pacific area, and 5 may be regarded asrepresentatives of the fauna of New Guinea and its adjoining islands.Four of the genera had not previously been recorded from the Solomon Islands:Platysimus, Psepholax, Tychiodes and Diathetes.SUBFAMILY OTIORHYNCHINAECeleuthetes paganus Gyll.Lavanggu, I cr, X. 1951 (Dan. Exp.).Hutuna, I cr, I 'i!, XI. 1953 (Brit. Exp.).This species was originally described from Vanikoro I., Santa Cruz Is., and noother locality has so far been recorded.Platysimus sp.Te-Avamanggu, I cr, X. 1951 (Dan. Exp.).This specimen is of interest as being the first example of this genus recorded fromany of the Solomon Islands. The genus is essentially Polynesian, having been foundso far in Tahiti, Samoa, Fiji, Ellice Is., Wallis I., Loyalty Is. and the New Hebrides.The species have not yet been-adequately studied.SUBFAMILY APIONINAEApion symbolum Fst.Lake Te-Nggano, Niupani, 2 cr, I ~, X. 1951 (Dan. Exp.).Hutuna, I !j', XI. 1953 (Brit. Exp.).This species was identified by Mr. J. Balfour-Browne, who states that it occursalso in Java, Mysol, Celebes, Aru and New Guinea.121
