This rather inconspicuous species appears to have been consistently misidentified inentomological literature since 1862; the moth and the genitalia of both sexes areillustrated.'Athetis placida Moore (1884) from Ceylon and Athetis obtusa Hampson (1891)from the Nilgiri Hills have genitalia apparently identical with those of ree/usa.
