Chapter 1CHRIST’S FAITHScripturally, the words “works” and“faith” are highly misunderstood. TheApostle James said, “What does it profit,my brethren, though a man say he has faithand have not works? Can faith save him?”(James 2:14). “Even so faith, if it has notworks, is dead, being alone” (James 2:17).WHAT WORKS AND FAITH?Jesus, in His battle with Satan told the devil, “Manshall not live by bread alone but by every word of God”(Matthew 4:4). Satan wanted to quote doctrine whenit furthered his plan, but never used “every” Word ofGod. He pitched the parts he could use to stump Jesus(after all it worked with Eve). Some denominations,ideologies, philosophies and even science use the sametactics.“Good works” are defined in James (James 2:14-16).(Read the entire Book of James for greater insight).When you show preference to a well-known or richperson over individuals who are poor, it does not show“a sign” of good works. Power, fame and money caninfluence an individual so you must always be on yourguard. Even when one understands – The Royal Law,“You shall love your neighbor as yourself, you do well”(James 2:8).
