Chapter 10A SPIRITUAL TEMPLEIn John 4, Christ foretold, when the templein Samaria and Jerusalem were gone, anew way of worshipping God would begin.God is a spirit and wants to be worshipped“spiritually.”WHAT IS SPIRITUAL WORSHIP?The temple destroyed in Jerusalem in 70 C.E., broughta new way to worship God as Christ foretold. This wasa spiritual temple, no longer possible by The Old Covenant.The Law of Moses, once “spiritually replaced,”upon The Day of Pentecost by God’s Holy Spirit, becamethe source of truth. On The Day of Pentecost,The Twelve Apostles received God’s Holy Spirit. Theyspoke in the languages of those at the feast. God gavethem the gift of speaking in tongues. Peter stood andpreached The Gospel of God’s kingdom, through TheHoly Spirit, guiding him. Now, The Old Covenant Lawof Moses was not leading them “To Christ.”God’s Holy Spirit led them to be a Witness of Christand no longer The Law of Moses. Christ was now thetemple, who had God’s Holy Spirit, since there was nolonger any physical temple, “Nevertheless, I tell youthe truth, it is expedient for you that I go away, the comforterwill not come to you, but if I depart, I will sendhim to you” (John 16:7).
