Chapter 5SATAN’S BATTLESatan knows, all too well, he can notbeat God. Is he foolish enough to resistGod’s way? God left Satan, one of Histop cherub angels, to teach Adam andEve in The Garden (Ezekiel 28:13-19).Satan interfered and told Eve, she wouldbe like God, knowing good and evil if sheate the trees of The Garden. He was nottalking about The Tree of The Knowledgeof Good and Evil, but what God knowswould happen by eating of the other treesin The Garden, including The Tree of Life.Because of her desire for the fruit of TheTree of The Knowledge of Good and Evilshe was deceived and ate the wrong fruitand was destined to die. Why did Satandeceive her?JOB’S GODOn the other hand, there was Job, who was self-righteous.He believed God and followed all of God’s ways(Job 1:8). But, Job and Satan had the same problem,both believed they knew the truth, as well as God.Humans were only made a little lower than the angels(Psalms 8). Angels are spirits, who have life, while

Even the angels did not knowwho, or when, The Messiah would come (I Peter 1:9-12). Humans and angels are limited, intellectually, tounderstand prophecy. They can, only, comprehendwhat God wants them to know by revealing their faithin Him. Angels are being tested just as mankind istested.Job had to be tested by God when He allowed Satan toafflict him. Job could not understand how God wouldallow him to be punished so severely, when he did notdeserve it. Job did not know how important faith andcomplete trust in God was. Job, Adam and Eve hadanother “god” instead of their Father, Almighty God.Eve allowed herself to be deceived by Satan becauseshe desired “the fruit of self-interest” to overcome heroriginal belief in her Father. She was like a teenagerbelieving she could decide what was good on her own,regardless of what her Father told her. She wanted todecide good and evil for herself. Adam knew better,but ate the fruit knowing he would die because he didnot want to live without Eve. Adam was a figure ofChrist dying for his wife (Romans 5). Adam preferredEve over God. Both had created a false god for themselves.(Request the free book, What Is Idolatry).Job regarded himself as a “god” just as Satan did.Both felt they, themselves, knew better than God. Jobworshipped his own righteousness just like Satan.Both believed they knew better than God. It seemedJob, Adam, Eve and Satan trusted in themselves, more
