While the organisation is aseparate entity set up by Trust Deed, its work is directly funded by Ocean Park,which contributes part of the admission fee of each guest, a percentage of theproceeds from our panda merchandise and animal encounter programmes, andall park admission funds on the annual Conservation Day, to the Foundation.In the 2008/09 fiscal year, HK$7.48 million went to the Foundation to fund 40conservation, research and education projects on 20 species. This means thateverybody who visited Ocean Park contributed to nature conservation.Our zoological facilities have evolved continuously for more than 30 years froma purely educational centre to become a focus of advocacy and participationthat actively facilitates research within our own facilities. Our animalcollections have a value which goes beyond education; they have becomeambassadors for conservation.全 力 資 助 保 育 工 作海 洋 公 園 支 持 保 育 工 作 一 直 不 遺 餘 力 , 並 透 過 香 港 海 洋公 園 保 育 基 金 , 資 助 亞 洲 區 內 各 保 育 及 研 究 項 目 。 基 金是 擁 有 獨 立 契 約 的 慈 善 信 託 基 金 , 而 其 活 動 的 支 出 均 由海 洋 公 園 直 接 資 助 , 並 來 自 每 張 入 場 門 票 收 費 的 部 分 收入 、 銷 售 熊 貓 商 品 和 動 物 全 接 觸 活 動 的 部 份 收 益 , 以 及每 年 海 洋 公 園 保 育 日 入 場 門 票 的 全 數 收 益 。 在 二 零 零 八至 零 九 財 政 年 度 , 海 洋 公 園 捐 助 香 港 海 洋 公 園 保 育 基 金的 總 額 達 港 幣 七 百 四 十 八 萬 元 , 共 資 助 了 涵 蓋 二 十 個 動物 品 種 的 四 十 個 保 育 、 研 究 及 教 育 項 目 。 換 而 言 之 , 所有 曾 經 到 訪 海 洋 公 園 的 遊 客 , 均 已 對 支 持 大 自 然 保 育 作出 貢 獻 。在 過 去 三 十 多 年 , 我 們 不 斷 優 化 園 內 的 呈 獻 , 從 本 來 專注 於 教 育 的 公 園 , 發 展 成 推 動 保 育 工 作 及 積 極 參 與 支 援保 育 研 究 的 中 心 。 而 園 內 的 動 物 亦 不 單 成 為 豐 富 的 教 育題 材 , 還 擔 當 宣 揚 保 育 的 大 使 角 色 。
