Als Sir Michael Kadoori<br />
beschloss, in Shanghai das<br />
dritte Haus seiner Peninsula<br />
Hotelgruppe in China zu<br />
eröffnen, kam nur eine Location<br />
für das Luxushotel in Frage:<br />
die Uferpromenade Bund.<br />
Es brauchte einige Zeit, bis<br />
sich eine Lücke auftat und<br />
Sir Michael seinen Traum<br />
realisieren konnte. So ist<br />
das Peninsula nun der einzige<br />
Neubau am Prachtboulevard.<br />
Sein Äußeres hat sich seiner<br />
historischen Umgebung<br />
angleichen müssen, im Inneren<br />
jedoch bietet das Hotel alle<br />
Annehmlichkeiten des<br />
21. Jahrhunderts. Wie in<br />
allen Peninsula Hotels gibt<br />
es eine große, hohe Lobby,<br />
in der man sich sehr gepflegt<br />
zum Afternoon Tea trifft,<br />
einen herrlich großen Indoor-<br />
Pool, ein ESPA Spa, mehrere<br />
Restaurants und Bars. Eine<br />
Flotte von Rolls-Royce steht<br />
zur Verfügung – mit ihr können<br />
Gäste vom Flughafen abgeholt<br />
werden. Die Peninsula Academy<br />
organisiert Aktivitäten wie<br />
Touren ins historische<br />
Shanghai oder Kochkurse.<br />
Das Schönste aber ist die<br />
Dachterrasse, von der man<br />
einen einmaligen Blick auf<br />
den Bund und auf das<br />
Finanzviertel Pudong hat.<br />
When Sir Michael Kadoori<br />
decided to open the third hotel<br />
in his Peninsula group in China,<br />
he had but one location in mind:<br />
the city of Shanghai. And within<br />
the city itself, there was only<br />
one location for such a luxury<br />
hotel: the Bund promenade.<br />
It took a while before a space<br />
became free and Sir Michael<br />
was able to realise his dream,<br />
but the Peninsula is now<br />
complete, the only new building<br />
on the magnificent boulevard.<br />
While its exterior mirrors its<br />
historic environment, the hotel’s<br />
interior offers every possible<br />
convenience one might<br />
associate with the twenty-first<br />
century. As in all Peninsula<br />
hotels, there is a huge lobby,<br />
where guests can meet for<br />
cultivated afternoon tea, a<br />
beautiful indoor pool, an ESPA<br />
spa, several restaurants and<br />
bars. A fleet of Rolls-Royces<br />
stands waiting to collect guests<br />
from the airport. The Peninsula<br />
Academy organises activities<br />
such as tours of historic<br />
Shanghai and cooking courses.<br />
The loveliest thing about the<br />
Peninsula, however, is its roof<br />
terrace, with its unique view<br />
of the Bund and the financial<br />
district of Pudong.<br />
