This key consideration covers two fundamental po<strong>in</strong>ts which need to be understood about grief:<br />
i. <strong>Grief</strong> is a dynamic <strong>and</strong> fluid process<br />
ii. People respond <strong>and</strong> cope with grief <strong>in</strong> different ways<br />
i. <strong>Grief</strong> is a dynamic <strong>and</strong> fluid process<br />
<strong>Grief</strong> is not a l<strong>in</strong>ear event which a person has to work through to get to a f<strong>in</strong>al po<strong>in</strong>t. It is a process<br />
of constant adjustment <strong>and</strong> change which br<strong>in</strong>gs emotional <strong>and</strong> practical challenges. <strong>Grief</strong> affects<br />
people <strong>in</strong> many different ways <strong>in</strong>clud<strong>in</strong>g physically, emotionally, psychologically <strong>and</strong> spiritually. The<br />
table below (1) shows some of the reactions that people may have to loss <strong>in</strong> each of these areas:<br />

Positive <strong>and</strong> negative feel<strong>in</strong>gs can happen spontaneously for people who are griev<strong>in</strong>g <strong>and</strong> this can<br />
often be confus<strong>in</strong>g or challeng<strong>in</strong>g to the person experienc<strong>in</strong>g these emotions.<br />
