Pinterest: perfect wedding guide
From colour schemes to the catering, the cake
and the bridal party’s make up, we’ve rounded
up some of this year’s top wedding trends...
Colour Obsessions
When it comes to fixing a colour scheme,
there’s so much choice. Earlier this year,
Pantone announced that Rose Quartz and
Serenity are the colours of the year. Soft
pastels, rose and metallic tones are some
of the biggest colours trending. Metallic
palettes such as silver, rose, and gold add
a hint of glitz to your wedding, whether to
the venue, the dress, the cake or perhaps
throughout! From gold sequined bridesmaid
dresses to sparkly dusted cakes, rose gold
is a surprisingly versatile colour. Calming
colours such as dusty pastels and romantic
Victorian colour palettes are also popular at
the moment, as they offer an elegant and
inviting feel to any aspect of your wedding.
Quirky Cuisine
A more laid back approach to your wedding
breakfast is becoming increasingly more
popular. From food trucks to sweet treat
stalls the formal dining approach appears to
be slowly dwindling in popularity. If you are
opting for a sit down dinner your menu will
take a more relaxed approach as dishes such
as pie and mash and fish and chips will take
centre stage.
Cake Crazes
Whilst the wedding cake is still a focal
element for many weddings, we’re certainly
seeing people moving away from the
classic tiered fruit cake! From macaroon
towers to individual cupcake stacks,
there’s now so much choice. Whilst edible
handmade flowers will forever be timeless,
we’ve recently seen real flowers used as
decoration. Naked cakes are also key this
year. Forget the delicately iced cake and
make way for the unfrosted, exposed edges
of a naked cake. Not only does a naked
cake give a rustic feel to your wedding and
expose its delicious filling and flavour, it’s
also supposed
to look ‘undone’,
meaning you
could even save
a few pennies and rustle
one up yourself! Whip up
a sponge, fill with fresh
cream and fruit, decorate
with fresh flowers and
dust with icing
sugar... Voilà! If the
handmade look isn’t
in keeping with your
overall look, keep
with the metallic
theme and add a
touch of glitz to your
cake.
Bridal Beauty
‘The bigger the
better’ has been the
motto when it comes
to our brows for quite
some time now, and it
doesn’t look like that
will be changing anytime soon. Keep your
brows looking naturally full and be sure to
keep the colour in line with that of your hair.
When it comes to the overall look, think
neutral, warm and natural-looking. Keep
your skin looking dewy with a subtle
highlighter and generous dusting of
bronzer. For eyeshadow shades, think
warm gold and brown hues, and perhaps
step away from the black liner.
Lash extensions are often a good
investment and far more practical than
strip lashes. Lips should also be a focal
point. Again, think natural and opt for
a dark, nude lip. When it comes to your
hair, the undone look is again the way to
go. Think boho loose waves, ruffled curls
and effortless braids.
