I then want to get to know them and their
partner; I always ask how they met and
about the proposal. I think getting to know
the character of the bride helps me suggest
dresses. My best tip is keep your shopping
crew small! Only bring the people whose
opinions you trust most. The bigger the
group, the more opinions and therefore the
more confusing it gets!
What styles suit what shapes? Is this a
myth?
Of course there is some truth in this, but
I don’t believe you should stick to this.
Always try a wildcard, something that you
would never have imagined. In the words of
Vera Wang – “Just go in and try things on…
things you may even think I would never
wear that.
Give yourself the freedom.” I think it is
more about trying the different shapes and
finding what suits you. A fishtail may look
great on your figure but if that’s not your
character then it isn’t you?
How early on should a bride sort her
dress?
A year is perfect. On average dresses
take around 5-6 months to be made and
delivered and then we usually say to allow
around 3 months for alterations as we offer
an in-house alteration service. You don’t
have to worry about where you are going to
store it and on top of that you don’t have to
worry about where to take it for alterations,
it takes all the stress away. Our first House
of Snow bride to get married, tied the knot
in August and she bought her dress 5 weeks
prior to the wedding. On the other hand we
have brides that have their dress ordered 2
years prior to the wedding, I think it is down
to the individual and what is right for you.
