THE NEXT TIME YOU ARE IN OMAN, head<br />
to Jebel Shams (Mountain of Sun), which,<br />
at 3,048 metres, is the highest point in the<br />
sultanate. In the upper stretch of the<br />
mountain is an area called the Grand<br />
Canyon of Oman. It offers stunning views<br />
of tiny villages, gorges, a large natural<br />
water pool and ravines. At the summit, you<br />
can catch your breath by indulging in a<br />
little bit of shopping at little stalls set up by<br />
children from the villages - they will<br />
sweetly sell you homemade handicrafts<br />
