that emotional break. It may sound
stupid saying ‘I am new and I need a
break’. But I really wanted it. I wanted to
settle down. I just wanted to sort out
some things. I wanted to work on my
body. I wanted to wear shorts and better
clothes, and not worry about anything.
Would you say the break has been good for
you?
Now, I have this dedication and
concentration towards my work
because of this break. The one year break
was amazing.
What was it like to work with Varun
Dhawan for the first time in the song
from Dishoom?
Varun is so spontaneous... he likes
improvisation. He is so energetic. This
song was a one-take song and we got two
days to practise for the song. We both
were perfect for this song.

with my weight. I took it upon myself to
work towards fitness. There was also
pressure from Bollywood to bring me on
the right path. It took me a year-and-ahalf
to reach here... I was in the gym and
nowhere else. Now, I eat and
sleep well. I am fit now.
At the same time, you also
didn’t sign any new film for
long. Did you miss seeing
yourself on the big screen in the
past one-and-a-half year?
Of course, I missed it. But see
when I entered the film
industry, I did four films
back-to-back. I am not from a
film background; I come
from a different discipline. I
come from a world of
banking and academics but
here, I had to be in front of
the camera all the time and I
was under pressure. I needed

title, Parineeti’s

in the marketing

What excited you about dubbing for
the Hindi version of Steven Spielberg’s
The BFG?
When they offered me the film, my first
priority was to watch it. So they brought
the film from Los Angeles,
and I loved it. I have a very
heavy and distinctive voice
and to become the voice of a
12-year-old girl was a big
challenge. I am so glad that I
did the film. Spielberg is one
of the top directors in the
world, and I always joke that
this was my one chance of
being a Spielberg heroine.
Did you get the chance to
interact
with Spielberg?
No, because this was the
Hindi version we were
working on with the
team here.
