Dear Readers,
I am delighted to say that in July,
SpiceJet recorded the best on time
performance of all major carriers
in the country including IndiGo, Jet
Airways, Air India and GoAir. We have
also registered a load factor of 92%,
making SpiceJet India’s favourite
airline for the 15th month in a row.
Our continuing network
enhancements have a ‘Look East’
focus. Starting from October 4,
we are adding new destinations,
namely Silchar, Gorakhpur and
Aizawl. The airline will operate
its Q-400 aircraft on Kolkata-
Silchar-Guwahati; Kolkata-
Aizawl-Guwahati and Kolkata-
Gorakhpur-Delhi routes. A new
city pair, Kolkata-Visakhapatnam-
Kolkata will be operational from
November 1. Our aim is to deepen
our engagement within India by
enhancing regional connectivity, in line
with the government’s new policy. The
new schedule will also include additional
frequencies on its existing routes of
Kolkata-Bagdogra and Kolkata-Guwahati.
We are also connecting Mangalore
to Dubai with daily flights beginning
October 30.
On India’s 70th Independence Day,
we offered our gratitude to the people
who allow us the ‘freedom of safety’ by
defending our borders. All passengers
who flew on the Indian Armed Forces
category fares were offered ‘meals’ and
‘beverages’ at no cost. Many officers were
also upgraded to SpiceMax (our premium
seating). The flight interiors also sported
the Indian tri-colour on the bulk heads
of the B 737s and at the entrance of the
Q-400s. The tricolour in the form of
ethnic wear and badges added to
our staff’s sartorial elegance.
Assam was at the receiving
end of the wrath of nature as it
witnessed one of the worst floods
in decades. SpiceJet contributed
by ferrying thousands of packets
of food aid for relief to various
destinations such as Majuli Island
and Jorhat, and also Bundelkhand
in Madhya Pradesh. We also
financially contributed to the food
aid from amongst funds set aside
for our CSR duties. Our efforts have
been lauded by both NGOs and the
government.
We at SpiceJet take pride in
celebrating India’s `Woman Power`
as PV Sindhu, Sakshi Malik and Dipa
Karmakar brought laurels to the
country at the Rio Olympics; and
as per our tradition, we will felicitate and
reward the distinguished ladies like we
have done in the past for medal winners.
Awards galore for Spicejet too,
as we won the 4th Delhi Management
Association-Thomas Assessments
National Award for Excellence in Talent
Management. SpiceJet was awarded for
Best Employee Engagement.
