Blaž Kutin was born in Ljubljana, where he graduated in ethnology and
sociology, and is currently based in Berlin. He is an award-winning filmmaker
and a photographer. Exploring the microcosm of city decay, he
creates abstract photographs out of details found on old surfaces, which
contain a world of their own that can be epic in scale. Small as it is, it is
usually hidden from our view, but it is there if you look close enough. He
removes the context and replaces it with a new one, using complex forms
and patterns made by time as material for his images.
