My style is realism
since I wish to provide
my viewer with
the ability to join me,
stand on the deck, or
wherever I might be, to
observe the scene with
me and be a partner to
my vision. The majority
of the maternal side of my family worked
on the water, Scalloping, Lobstering, as crew
and Captain on Private Yachts and as owners
of a marine repair shop. My mother attended
Boston University graduated with a teaching
degree in Art. She became my teacher and
mentor as well as my best critic. She taught
me to observe and capture the glory of coastal
Maine and was the single most important
influence on my life as an artist. Amazingly
years after the death of my parents I discovered
that my Fathers family also had a strong
connection to the sea and the settling of
Guilford, CT., from their roots in England.
