Te, T, <strong>and</strong> Tmin are the central confinement times for electrons, deuterons <strong>and</strong> tail ions<br />

respectively. Linearization of the form X = Xo + X] exp (ifit) makes it possible to<br />

solve for the modulation frequency spectrum of the various quantities. The results<br />

of the procedure are the values of pmc <strong>and</strong> pmin yielding the best fit for the amplitude<br />

<strong>and</strong> phase variation of wel <strong>and</strong> wu with respect to Q, using computed values of TSC,<br />

Tsi <strong>and</strong> Tei. An example of fitting wel is given in Fig. 7. The interference of the<br />

sawtooth crash with the raw modulation signal [12] dem<strong>and</strong>s appropriate measures<br />

[13]. The sum of pmc <strong>and</strong> pminTs/7se then yields pRF,e, whereas pRF>i equals
