Summary:<br />

For this semester’s design studio, we’ve been working on a master plan to improve <strong>the</strong> situation by <strong>the</strong><br />

Bahnh<strong>of</strong>quai and integrate a new building, which shall replace <strong>the</strong> Globus Provisorium.<br />

The area around <strong>the</strong> Hauptbahnh<strong>of</strong> has a few connected pedestrian areas. The idea <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> design is to<br />

create more pedestrian friendly areas in front <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Hauptbahnh<strong>of</strong> and by <strong>the</strong> Globus Provisorium and<br />

to connect <strong>the</strong>se to <strong>the</strong> pedestrian network. This is achieved by restricting car traffic over ground, only<br />

allowing it to pass between Hauptbahnh<strong>of</strong> and Central and leading all o<strong>the</strong>r traffic through <strong>the</strong> existing<br />

underpass, which is extended all <strong>the</strong> way to <strong>the</strong> police department. Fur<strong>the</strong>rmore <strong>the</strong> newly created<br />

spaces and <strong>the</strong> pedestrian network should be connected to <strong>the</strong> Limmat, which is a great quality <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong><br />

city. The open spaces are designed to lead <strong>the</strong> people down to <strong>the</strong> river onto decks, where <strong>the</strong>y can<br />
