INTRO TO... VOLUNTEERING
The aim of this module is to increase the
attendee understanding of volunteering
within gymnastics, the voluntary
opportunities available within the sport
and how to get involved.
Course attendees will learn about
volunteering, understand the benefits
and barriers, be able to identify the
qualities needed to be a good volunteer,
understand the different types of
volunteers and know how to keep
volunteers engaged.
This will enable them to support and help
their club with recruiting and retaining
volunteers. The attendee will gain a better
understanding of their own individual skills
set, which will help them in fulfilling various
volunteer roles of their own.
INTRO TO... EVENTS
This course aids attendees to gain a greater
at gymnastic events and give the leaders the
successful event with the help of other adults.
The attendee will be able to list different
types and level of events, the volunteer
roles at these events and how to fulfil them.
INTRO TO... JUDGING
Similarly to intro to coaching, intro to… judging
is designed to be the first step on the judging
pathway enabling the attendees to have a
better understanding of the role of a judge in
gymnastics and the principles of judging.
Attendees will be able to identify the
roles and qualities of a judge, be able to
differentiate between the basic skills and
understand common errors judges see in
gymnastics. The attendee will be provided
with the opportunity to put this theory into
practice recording and evaluating errors
in single skills, sequences and routines.
On completion the attendee with have the
ability to judge at low level competitions
and events.
INTRO TO... COACHING
This module is designed to be the very
first step on the coaching ladder. It teaches
the attendees about the coaches’ role and
provides some top tips and new ideas as
they begin helping in the gym.
The attendees will learn about the qualities of a
coach, their responsibilities and the importance
of risk assessments and safety in the gym.
They will be introduced to different preps,
progressions and how to help out with basic
skills. The attendee will leave the course fully
aware of the role of a helper in a gymnastics
environment and how to fulfil this position.
Once a leader has attended the course they will
be able to help run warm ups and cool downs,
help assist with side activities and help out with
additional tasks in a gymnastics club under the
direct supervision from the coach in charge.
FLEXIBLE COURSE LENGTH
These modules can be completed in any order but we recommend Intro to...Volunteering is
volunteering activities, the attendee is eligible to be certificated for the 1st 4 Sport Level 2
To register with 1st 4 Sport, the learner must be 14 years of age; however, modules attended
prior to them being 14 will still be recognised.
Delivery of all Intro To Events is completed by a BG Approved Tutor for that module. Details of Tutors
